  • In the weeks ahead, our parish representative from Solutio, Inc., will be setting up the advertising for our website for the year.
  • Please consider participating in this effort since the revenue from the ads is what makes the website possible at no cost to the parish.
  • It’s a great way to get your name in front of the families in the parish. Advertisements may be purchased for a business, family memorial, or you can sponsor an ad supporting Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus, Vocations, etc.
  • Please give these ideas some thought. We need and appreciate your help! If you are interested or just curious as to prices and want more information, please contact 860.300.2890 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

At the behest of Bishop Cote we are very excited to announce that the Diocese of Norwich has been blessed with the opportunity, through the Knights of Columbus, to host the major relic of St. Jean Vianney on December 13, 2018 at the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Gales Ferry.

The evening begins at 5pm with a time of quiet visitation and prayer with the relic followed by our Monthly Holy Hour for Vocations and finally an opportunity to venerate/touch the reliquary holding the relic.

The Shrine of Ars, France, has entrusted to the Knights of Columbus the major relic of St. Jean Vianney’s incorrupt heart for a national tour in the U.S., from November 2018 through early June 2019.

The Knights of Columbus welcome this special opportunity to offer for veneration a major relic of the patron of parish priests, whose holiness and integrity is a model for clergy and laity alike.

The Annual Convocation for Priests will be held from December 3-5, 2018 at Gurney's Newport Resort on Goat Island in Newport, RI. It will be a time for all priests to gather with their bishop for spiritual renewal, support, education and rest. No parish, school or institutional activities will be scheduled during these days. Please pray for your priests, as they will be praying for you.

Over ten years in the making, the new English translation will begin for us at Sacred Heart Parish and all English-speaking parishes in the United States on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27th 2011.  The goal was to refine the English text adapted after Vatican II to be more likened with the original Latin text.

The specific responses can be found on the handouts we were given in church, and we can anticipate using the missals in the pews more during the Mass to follow along than in the past, but like learning a new song, with repetition, we will learn the new “lyrics” the more we attend Mass.

For those who have been away from church for a while, welcome back!  Don’t be intimidated by the differences, just dive on in with the rest of us.
